A chance conversation recently, which included the statement 'of course, you know they changed the direction of the River Goyt down by Goyt Mills, don't you?' has resulted in my recent research/obsession with finding out all about it.
Using archive photos, my own photos, anecdotal evidence and of course, that fantastic maps resource National Library of Scotland, I've been able to see exactly where the river was changed, and why, but see where it was changed in 2 separate locations.
